Bold statement: The race for Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year in the 2025 PGA TOUR season just got its final lineup, and the competition promises to be as intense as ever. But here’s where it gets controversial: how the voting process and the new PGA TOUR CENTRAL platform could influence who takes home the trophies.
The PGA TOUR revealed the final nominees for both the Jack Nicklaus Award (Player of the Year) and the Arnold Palmer Award (Rookie of the Year) for 2025. These selections come after thorough consideration by the PGA TOUR Player Directors and members of the Player Advisory Council (PAC).

He’s the seventh player since 1970 to win on the TOUR within his first three career starts, finishing No. 98 in the FedExCup Fall standings and making the cut in all four starts. Prior to the TOUR win, he secured three wins on PGA TOUR Americas in 2025.

Voting details and timing
- The Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year are decided by a member vote. Eligible voters are PGA TOUR members who played in at least 15 official FedExCup events during 2025.
- For 2025, voting will be conducted via PGA TOUR CENTRAL, the TOUR’s new player app and website. The ballot opening and closing window is from Thursday, Dec. 4, 10 a.m. ET to Friday, Dec. 12, 5 p.m. ET. Winners will be announced at a later date.
Why these nominations matter
- Each candidate brings a unique blend of consistency, peak performance, and impact on the season. Fleetwood’s late-season surge, Griffin’s breakout consistency, McIlroy’s Grand Slam bid through outright dominance, and Scheffler’s continued world-class status all set high bars for Player of the Year.
- On the rookie side, Brennan’s rapid ascent and immediate TOUR membership mark a compelling start to a possible storied career, while Fisk, Mouw, Potgieter, and Vilips each showcase potential to shape the TOUR’s next generation.
Questions to spark discussion
- Do these nominees reflect the true balance between consistency and peak performance, or should sheer wins drive more weight in Player of the Year voting?
- With the new voting platform, will players’ perspectives be more accurately represented, or could platform familiarity influence outcomes?
- Which rookie’s trajectory seems most likely to translate into a successful, long-term PGA TOUR career, and why?
